The Real Reason I'm Writing This Blog

In my first post I gave you some feel-good reasons why I am writing a blog.  Now I'm going to give you the real reason.  So I can officially graduate High School.

Sophomore year of High School I was enrolled in Honors English (because my friends were, not because I had a love for English).  We were supposed to do a packet of homework over the summer which I did not.  The first day of school I scribbled some nonsense down and turned it into Mrs. Woolsey.  She was not impressed.  From that time forward in her eyes I was a slacker with an attitude and in my eyes she was someone out to get me.

We quarrelled and had many after class "serious discussions" and eventually we decided it would be best if we went our separate ways- which translates to me leaving her class to a "remedial" (normal) English class.  So I was transferred to a class where both the teacher and the students had very low expectations of each other - and we got along great... but I didn't learn a thing.

But here's the scandalous part.  I transferred after the first quarter, and for some reason every quarter I would get two English grades.  The computer still had me enrolled in both English classes and whatever grade I got in my "remedial" English class would get copied to my "Honors" English class!  I was getting double credits of mostly A's because that's what you got if you showed up more than half the time.

So I got two years of English credit my sophomore year so I didn't have to take an English class my Senior year.  My junior year of English didn't even remotely resemble a real class so I graduated High School with one year of English under my belt.  Yes I be large proud of much english I know.

In college I tested out of the only required English class, so that was it.  I went out into the workforce armed with one lousy year of High School English.  So that is another reason why I am writing this blog.  To redeem my abysmal English track record and graduate from High School.

So Mrs. Woolsey, if you're reading this, please grade each post with a smiley face or frowny face... and if I get enough smiley faces maybe you can let me back in your class (do you do distance learning?) and I can earn those credits.

Rusty, I think this is so funny. I think your English is spectacular for only one year of class!
The class I've always felt guilty about was the one where we hoisted chairs up on those chains that rolled across the ceiling and we would go for rides? Weren't you in that class with me? Sad, I can't even remember the teachers name or what class it was. No one in that class did anything except goof off and I think we probably all aced it.
